In response to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the NSO Executive Committee voted on Friday, May 1, 2020 that this year’s Representative Assembly (RA) will be postponed and rescheduled for November 9-11, 2020.
The 2020 NSO Representative Assembly (RA) was scheduled for June 11-13, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia. It was expected that over 300 union delegates and invited guests would attend from across the country for the annual meeting of the legislative body. This meeting serves to set the goals of the union as well as approve the annual budget and elect officers. The RA also provides an opportunity to recognize the hard work of our union members, reflect on the union brothers and sisters we lost throughout the year, and provides a forum for NSO members to network with each other.
“The health and safety of our union members remains our primary concern,” NSO President Brad Darjean said. “The decision to postpone the RA ensures that we will have full participation for the important work that must be done.”
After exploring all options, the Executive Committee voted unanimously to postpone the RA until November 9-11, 2020. NSO is in the process of working out the final logistics with Hyatt Regency O’Hare (Chicago) and will begin transmitting pertinent information to Affiliate Presidents and delegates as soon as possible.
The vote was taken in accordance Article IV, Section 4 of the Bylaws, The Executive Committee shall have the power by reason of a national emergency or natural calamity, to suspend or eliminate the annual meeting of the Representative Assembly.
