The 2017 NSO RA will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, GA from June 9-10, 2017. Early registration will be on Thursday, June 8, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with regular registration beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017, prior to the start of the RA.
The RA business meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with a welcome from new NSO President Brad Darjean. “I’m looking forward to guiding the delegates as they conduct the business of the organization. They have important work to do—from electing new members to the Executive Committee; deciding on a budget; and voting on new business items that will govern NSO. And, of course, there’s time to network with other delegates from across the country.”
For RA registration, the names and home email addresses of all entitled delegates and alternates must be submitted via CVENT by May 15, 2017.
Besides the regular business meeting, delegates are encouraged to attend the budget hearing for a review of the proposed 2017-18 budget; the Emerging Issues session for a discussion on issues and challenges facing affiliates and their members; and the Associate Staff Forum designed to address issues important to associate staff members. Delegates attending the RA for the first time should be at the New Delegate Orientation to become familiar with RA procedures.
Darjean said, “All of these meetings make the RA a more meaningful experience for delegates. They have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how the NSO is advocating for them.”
The RA will also recognize NSO members chosen to receive the Mother Jones Award for Outstanding Activism and the Emil Oxfeld Advocacy Award for their championing of labor and union rights in their service to NSO affiliates and members.
The RA will adjourn at approximately noon on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
